Legacy & Decline

Once one of the most celebrated public golf courses in the Coachella Valley, Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta proudly hosted the Skins Game from 2003 to 2006, welcoming icons like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Fred Couples, and Annika Sorenstam. By 2021, however, the course faced a dramatic decline when its owner abandoned the property, shutting off irrigation and leaving the grounds to deteriorate. As the fairways browned and greens disappeared, home values in the surrounding community plummeted, and the course’s reputation faded into disrepair.

Community Vision

In 2024, Trilogy Forward—a group of dedicated homeowners—stepped in to purchase the property out of bankruptcy. Their vision was not only to restore the course but to revitalize the pride of the community and protect property values. Recognizing the importance of honoring the course’s original design, they brought back Gary Brawley, a member of the original design team, to lead the restoration effort.

Restoration in Action

Gary immediately began crafting a detailed scope of work, overseeing the bid process, and making weekly site visits to approve progress. He coordinated closely with the golf course contractor, ensuring greens, tees, and bunkers were rebuilt to exacting standards. Every step of the restoration balanced technical precision with respect for the course’s original design intent, bringing the layout back to life with care and discipline.

A Promise Fulfilled

This project carried deep personal meaning for Gary. In his final conversation with mentor Gary Panks before his passing, Gary made a heartfelt promise to restore the course to its former glory. That promise now lives on in every fairway, every green, and every detail of the revitalized Trilogy Golf Club at La Quinta. Today, the course stands once again as a symbol of excellence, community, and enduring design.
